Mission

To promote standardization for the improvement of the quality of goods, services and sound management practices in industries and public institutions in Ghana.

 

Vision

 To become a model of excellence in Standardization in Africa.

 

International Affiliations

Ghana through the Ghana Standards Board takes part in international and regional standardization activities and is currently a Participating member in seventeen ISO Technical Committees and sub-committees. It also has observer member status in two ISO technical Committees. It is a member of the following organizations:

  1. International Standards Organisation
     
  2. African Organisation for Standardization ARSO 
     
  3. Africal Electro-Technical Commssion (AFSEC) 
     
  4. International Electro-Technical Commssion (IEC) 
     
  5. International Organisation for Legal Metrology (OIML)
     
  6. CODEX Alimentarius Commission (CODEX) 
     
  7. PROKARITE

The Ghana Standards Board participates in the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) Affiliate Country Programme.

The following Government agencies represent Ghana in other international Standards- setting bodies:

  1. the Plant Protection and Regulatory Services of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture participate in the activities of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC),
  2. the Ghana Veterinary Service represents Ghana in the International Office of Epizootics (OIE),
  3. the National Communication Authority is a member of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and
  4. the Ghana Maritime Academy is a member of the International Maritime Organization (IMO)

The Ghana Standards Board has since 2007 entered into four Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with the Standards with the following standards organisations “Organization of Nigeria (SON)”, American Bullet Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) and “Deutsches Institut fur Normung (DIN)”. The MOUs cover the areas of standards harmonization, development, capacity building and access to technical information.

The Quality Assurance Division of Ghana Standards Board announces the following programme for training for the industry in the greater Accra region. The venue for the training is the Ghana Standards Board training room and each course starts at 9:00am

GHANA STANDARDS BOARD TRAINING PROGRAMME – 2010 (ALL OTHER REGIONS)

 

The Quality Assurance Division of Ghana Standards Board announces the following programme for training for the industry in the various regions apart from Greater Accra region. Registration should be done at the various GSB regional offices. The venue for the training will be decided in the various regions and all programmes start at 9:00am prompt.
